I am all for Web 2.0 technologies when it comes to K-12 education. First off, if the student is planning on coming to college, then most of them will need to know how to use such tools. However, I know alot of schools that don't use most of these technologies and their graduates go off to college and know nothing about computers...a perfect example of that would be me! I knew about excel, but I didn't know how to use it...I never heard of Inspiration...alot of things that I learned how to do in this class, I had never heard or seen before. I would definitely use them because I wouldn't want to possibly handicap my students by not preparing them for something that they may encounter in the future. That's the opposite of what a teacher is supposed to do. A great example of the Web 2.0 technologies would be a blog site or even twitter. I think that a blog site would be the equivalent to a daily journal.
Wikipedia is EVIL! It carries incorrect information and some of their information are opinions of other people. I think that wkikpedia should be banned. If you can't carry correct information, then why are you considered a resource??
I think that making my Wiki was great. But i don't know if i'll use this particular resource in my classroom. I think that it will be very distracting and the kids will be more interested in making their wikispace pretty and not really paying attention to the actual task at hand.
